Hi, this is my first time in the forum and I wish to seek advice on my situation.
I'm a green card holder (singapore citizen) who got married while being a US PR. I wish to apply for my wife (singapore citizen) a green card.
How long is the typical wait?
See visa bulletin. Your case is Family Based (FB) 2A. Currently, it is at 01APR06 (i.e., the applications that USCIS received before 04/01/2006 are eligible to be approved). You need to study how quickly the dates move by going through VISA bulletins in the last 3-4 years, but my guess would be about 5 years.
Visa Bulletin for March 2010 (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4659.html)
while applying, is it true that my wife can't enter the US?
AFAIK, not on the basis of her GC application, but if she gets another (dual-intent) VISA, say H1B, then she can enter US.
I kind of know the answers but would like to confirm with this forum. I know the situation can be pretty bleak.
Many many thanks,
After 5 years of being PR, you can become US Citizen. After you have become a US citizen, your wife's GC application will no longer be subject to a quota and she should get GC within a few months (processing time).

As all PD are now current, number of EAD filling will increase. So the processing time will be about 6 months for EAD.
My question is what will happen, if the PD retrogress before EAD is approved. Will it be still approved, or will have to wait till PD get current again.

A good friend of mine is getting divorced with her husband. The husband is the primary employment based green card applicant and their dates are current.
Will her I-485 be denied after the divorce?
The husband is willing to wait till the green card is approved before the divorce.
If she gets her green card, will it be revoked after the divorce?

I have filed 485 for all my family members and received the EAD and AP(s). FP is not done yet. My daughter is in 1st year undergrad. Is there a way my daughter's 485 status can be maintained, if I join my daughter for MBBS study in India? If yes, what would be the option. Apreciate the suggestion

Hi all,
My wife is on F-1 Visa and is planning to graduate in Dec 07. I have applied for I-485 for both of us in last week of July. Can she Under-Enroll for Fall 2007 as that will be her graduating semester?
I understand that once I-485 is filed, the F-1 Visa candidate cannot make any F-1 related changed (transfer, extend, OPT) since that person has shown immigration intent. What about under enrollment in graduating semester? My wife called her school and they said that they have to internally approve her under enrollment by looking at her Plan of Study, graduation application etc.. The approval is given internally and INS is not involved in the approval process. Its just that after the approval, the school has to inform INS about what they did.
Does it mean, its Okay to under enroll? Any inputs on this will be appreciated.

1 &2 Yes you can, And your status will be EAD/adjustment of status.
IO can doubt about your intention is to do business or continue work
3) This is the best strategy and I have done that.
4) Pray to god !. Hopefully it shoudl be current in next 6 months
( May be in IV we can request a separate page for the intiatives/ventures by the immigrant community.
The current Ads/Merchantise is for MNCs who can pay big money and it may not be affordable for
the new ventures/start ups )

USCIS has not mentioned of any plans to allow filing of I-485 if priority dates are not current.
Its a different thing that lot of people wish that this will be the case.

Looks like there are 27 co-sponsors for HR 5882 and 7 of those joined this month. That is a good news I guess.
Looks like the bill is still alive and something might happen before the end of this year.

My fiance lives in Mexico and I live in the United States. We are planning on getting married this summer. As soon as I return, I'm planning on beginning the process so that my future wife could come to the United States to live with me. We plan on getting married in the Catholic Church, but we have doubts if that type of marriage is a valid one for this specific situation. We just don't want a delay in the process simply because it was a religious marriage and we want to be with each other as soon as possible. My question is: Is a religious marriage valid for this situation? Which one would you recommend: Having a civil marriage or a religious marriage in Mexico?

I'm getting a visa stamping date in Kolkata embassy but I'm from New Delhi. I dont want to take a chance and wait till the dates in New Delhi embassy are available. Can I schedule interview in Kolkata and later when dates become available in New Delhi change it ? I mean can I change the venue of my appointment ?
Thanks,
Ashish
I was in a similar situation last year.I had stamped my intial H1 stamps from Mumbai and Chennai. Last year in June i booked my appointment with New Delhi Embassy for stamping in Sept end when i was to be in India. i think appointments were a major issue at that point of time. Returning workers can apply for visa stamp at any consulate/embassy .
Thanks,
Ashish

There is always an ad for rain gear in the back of photo mags by this one company...I can't think of their name at the moment but I'll find it when I get home. Stuff looks pretty neat.
I've seen those ads, but wonder how effective the products are. I bought one after seeing it in an add and it fits perfect with my 300 but with smaller lenses it's to big. I was hoping I might hear from someone who has one for a smaller lense (17-80 ish).
